Summary
West Herts College Group has an exciting opportunity for a Careers and Progression Advisor to join our dynamic GAP team. This role will be 37 hours per week, term time only and will be primarily based between our Watford and Hemel Hempstead campuses, with occasional days at our Luton campus.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, student-focused individual who is passionate about guiding learners towards their future goals. If you are someone who is resilient and able to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders with a commitment to maintaining a student focused provision then we welcome your application.
You will play a vital role in helping students make informed decisions about their next steps, whether that’s university, apprenticeships, employment, or further training. From delivering engaging group sessions on topics like CV writing and the UCAS process to providing one-to-one careers guidance, you will ensure every student has access to high-quality, impartial support tailored to their individual needs.
The successful candidate should hold, be working towards, or willing to work towards a recognised qualification in careers guidance (e.g. Level 3 or 4 in Careers Guidance and Development or equivalent). Experience of working with young people in an educational setting and knowledge of careers education frameworks such as the Gatsby Benchmarks or Matrix Standard would be highly advantageous.
You will be supported by a high performing team and will work closely with colleagues across curriculum areas, as well as with employers, universities, and community partners to bring careers education to life. Training and development opportunities are embedded in our culture, and you’ll be encouraged to grow your skills and innovate in your delivery.
